Requirements & Considerations

  • The program runs February through June. Below, you can include a requested date to start your program. We will keep that date in mind as we schedule groups based on location and availability. We will contact you after you submit this form to confirm a drop off and pick up date.

  • General schedule: We will drop off on a Sunday or Monday, and the incubator must warm up for roughly 5 hours prior to setting the eggs. Once the eggs are set, they incubate for 21 days. Once chicks hatch, after 24-36 hours in the incubator, they should be moved to their brooder for the rest of week 4 through week 5. We will pick up equipment and chicks on Fridays of week 5.

  • We will require payment to confirm your drop off date, and will include that information in your date confirmation e-mail.

  • Well-managed incubation results in 80-90% of eggs hatching. Inconsistent incubation (for example, if the incubator is opened, jarred, or loses power) could result in as low as a 0% hatch rate.

  • Verify that you have a safe location in your home for both the incubator and the brooder. Consider places that have steady temperatures, no drafts, no direct sunlight, low foot traffic.

  • Involve and engage the kids, but monitor them CLOSELY. While our kids are raised with chicks and baby animals of all kinds, they still require consistent monitoring when by the incubator, by the brooder, and handling chicks. The slightest accident can kill embryos and chicks.

  • More information, details, explanations, and tips will be included in the project. Have fun! Prayers for a successful hatch!
